One of the central activities within the project “Implementation of the European Agenda for Adult Learning in North Macedonia,” implemented by the Adult Education Centre as national coordinator for the implementation of the European Adult Learning Agnda, is the development of a new Adult Education Strategy 2025–2030.
On April 10, 2025, at the National Institution – Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence, the final version of this important strategic document was presented to a large audience composed of representatives from various institutions and organizations active in the field of adult education.
The event was opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. Vesna Janevska, Minister of Education and Science. Remarks were also given by Mr. Sadudin Sadiki, Acting Director of the Adult Education Centre, and Prof. Dr. Kiril Barbareev, President of the Adult Education Council. On this occasion, Mr. Konstantin Hristovski, as the project coordinator, briefly introduced the project within which the Strategy was developed.
A key highlight of the event was the online participation of Ms. Anni Karttunen, an EU expert from Finland, who delivered a detailed presentation of the Strategy, focusing on the collaborative process with relevant national stakeholders, the main findings, objectives, and indicators of this important document.
The main goals of the action plan derived from the Strategy are:
- Increasing participation and inclusion of adults in lifelong learning
- Expanding access to education through geographic and digital solutions
- Strengthening training for employability and entrepreneurial learning
- Developing a comprehensive framework for validation of non-formal and informal learning
- Increasing financial support for adult education
- Promoting innovation and digital transformation
- Professional development of adult education staff
- Strengthening monitoring
- Deepening international cooperation
The new Adult Education Strategy 2025–2030 will contribute to the medium-term strategic definition of policies aimed at increasing adult participation in adult and lifelong learning by improving conditions and creating a learning-friendly environment, aligned with national education priorities and European trends.
