One of the core activities of the project “Implementation of the European Agenda on Adult Learning in North Macedonia”, led by the Adult Education Centre as appointed national coordinator for implementation of the Euorpean Adult Learning Agenda, is the development of a new Adult Education Strategy 2025 – 2030.

This measure aims at supporting the Adult Education Council as a body in charge for strategic planning as a contribution toward mid-term strategic policy definition in order to increase participation of adults in adult education and lifelong learning through continuous improvement of the framework conditions and creation of an enabling learning environment, in line with the comprehensive national education priorities, as well as with European trends.

In September 2024, the process of consultation with relevant stakeholders was successfully initiated. The first phase consisted of collection and summary of feedback from a wider spectrum of consulted actors, related to their views on the key challenges and priority topics to be addressed by the Strategy.

In the period September 23rd – 27th 2024, Anni Karttunen – the EU-Expert assigned for the development of the Adult Education Strategy, payed her first field visit to North Macedonia, in order to conduct bilateral and multilateral consultation meetings.

On 24th and 25th of September 2024, two workshops took place – the first with the Adult Education Council and the second with a stakeholder working group, in the frames of which an agreement was reached in relation to the structure, goals, vision and mission of the new Strategy.

The consultation process will continue in the upcoming months, with an initial plan to wrap it up by the end of the year with a first draft of the Strategy and to finalize it in the first quarter of 2025.
